The Legacy of Chernobyl

Fund recipient, Will Goodbody travelled to Chernobyl, Belarus to examine the legacy of the Chernobyl accident 32 years ago, producing a three-part series for RTƒ News. The first report coincided with the arrival into Shannon of 145 young people from orphanages and homes in Belarus for respite. In his second report, Will visited the former nuclear power plant to examine what remains to be done on the site. Finally, Will visited abandoned towns within the Chernobyl exclusion zone, examining the ongoing contamination of the land and its effect on the people which can be read here.
