In 2010, Harry Leech travelled to Tanzania to document the support Irish Aid has given to local farmers in the southern highland regions and how this aid has improved their livelihood.
The cocoa produced in this region has attracted niche buyers and though this has created opportunities, there are still many challenges facing the farmers.
Harry’s article; How meeting a man called January changed my life was printed in the Irish Independent on 14th December 2010. Another article; The future’s looking sweet appeared in the Irish Farmer’s Journal in November 2010.
Tanzania is one of Irish Aid’s partner countries. For further details on Irish Aid’s work in Tanzania, click here.
