This radio documentary looks at the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Tullow Oil and the Ugandan government concerning the development of several oil fields in the east of Uganda and the construction of an oil refinery.
This report examines the following:
The environmental issues raised by the project (displacement of people, impact on water quality, impact on animals)
Where the responsibility for these questions lies
What measures have been taken by those responsible to avoid any damage to the environment (in the short term) and consequently to one of Uganda’s main domestic industries, tourism (in the long term), and to the country’s development overall.
