Mary Fitzgerald was a recipient of the summer 2013 round of the Simon Cumbers Media Fund. Mary traveled to Burma with photographer, Brenda Fitzsimons, to look at the fledgling democratic state three years on from the elections in November 2010 when President Thein Sein was elected, while exploring the possibilitites and challenges of state-building through the prism of Burma’s experience.
